​Jahnavi Sheriff a recipient of the MAHARASHTRA GOURAV PURASKAR 2024 is a trained Bharata Natyam dancer from Kalakshetra College of Fine Arts, Chennai. After completing her diploma in Dance, she trained for a year at the Broadway Dance Center, New York, where she graduated receiving the OUTSTANDING STUDENT AWARD (2024). During her time in New York she fell in love with Dancehall and also had the opportunity to work with Kalamandir Dance Company there and was a part of the Urban Dance league .  Upon her return to India she started spreading her love for this particular dance form all over the country. She’s  travelled extensively across India to teach dancehall and also taught at well reputed academies like Terence Lewis Academy, The Danceworx, and The Wooden Stage and worked  for brands like Casa Bacardi etc. She has PERFORMED and CHOREOGRAPHED for artists like NUCLEYA and REGGEA RAJAHS at music festivals like NH7 Weekender, Royal Enfield Rider Mania and Goa Sunsplash, NAEZY : Maghreb Album Launch, and also featured in RITVIZ Music video Chalo Chalein, Fevikwik by General Zooz.  She has also choreographed and featured in the music videos: Indian Wine by General Zooz and Sureal, and Bam Bam by Sureal, Mumbai Gyal Music Video - General Zooz, Unavailable by MISS V, Dunk That junk - MTV the Junk yard, Entourage - Leslie Lewis and Omar Gooding. Along with her live performance and music video choreography she’s also worked as Movement director/Choreographer for ads like Spawake ft Mouni Roy, MPL ft. Manoj Bajpayee, Laiqa Pads ft Tapsee Pannu, Coke Studio Holi with Janhvi KApoor just to name a few. 

In 2017, She did a brief residency with Astad Deboo, for the Project Collisions. In 2018, she along with General Zooz appeared on stage at the world's largest reggae festival, Rototom Sunsplash in Spain, the only first and ONLY Indian Dancer to do so. She is the founder of Smash Dem Crew, a strictly dancehall crew that’s instrumental in organising workshops with artists from Jamaica to promote and spread the love of authentic dancehall in India.   She frequently participates in Dancehall workshops and competitions Internationally to grow and polish her skills. She was the first runner up in Asia's Dancehall Queen Competition (Taiwan) 2018 and came top 4 in DHQ 2017, Top 16 Dancehall International Asia (2019), Top 16 Big up Kemp Europe (2016).

Jahnavi Sheriff started her yoga journey at the age of 11 when her mother, yoga teacher Shameem Akthar, enrolled her into a Sivananda Ashram Kids Camp in Kerala. She was immediately struck by the simplicity of ashram life and started discovering that practicing yoga made her feel good in the body, mind and soul. Since then, she has gone on to become certified by Sivananda Ashram (Uttarkashi) and Indea Yoga (Mysore) as a yoga teacher. Having been immersed in yoga from an early age and having ardently studied different schools of Yoga, Jahnavi has developed her own unique style of teaching. She conducts each class based on the specific needs of the student, whether it’s a personal session or a group workshop. Jahnavi has travelled around the country teaching yoga at fitness camps and music festivals like Ignite (Shillong) and Goa Sunsplash, to name a few. In 2019, Jahnavi was invited by TedX to give a talk which she titled , Fitness is a State of Mind. As a professional dancer, trained at Kalakshetra College of Fine Arts and BroadWay Dance Center, NYC, Jahnavi has also created a Yoga for Dancers program which has been very popular with the dance community in India. She is based in Mumbai where she currently teaches personal and group classes and online classes. 

As an actor Jahnavi has completed her 1 month film and theatre acting course from Actor prepares by Anupam Kher and one Month program at The Jeff Goldberg Studio, and attends workshops by teachers to constantly hone her skills. Since the year 2015 he has been seen on commercials and hoardings across India  for Fila, Zelocity, Himalaya Neem Face Wash, Being Human, Hp Laptops, Hotstar Superhero IPL ad, Amul Milk, Flipkart, Ebay world Music Day, 2go FItness, Cult Sport, Kotex, Love Depot, Coca Cola, Royal Stag, Elite Foods, Ibis Style Hotel, JBL, Ikea, Infinix just to name a few. She also had a brief role in the movie The Haunting on Amazon Mini.
